JODIE NANCE

Jodie Nance is a native of Fayetteville. Her extensive background in education is indicative of her passion to learn and to educate others. She earned her two Bachelor of Science degrees from UNC-Pembroke in Health/Physical Education and Middle Grades Education. She received her Master of Arts degree in Special Education from Fayetteville State University. Jodie has been a North Carolina state certified teacher for the past 24 years. In addition, she is a National Board certified teacher specializing in Mild to Moderate Disabilities.

Jodie is proud to serve as a tumble instructor at Cumberland Dance Academy. Her background in tumbling stems from her years as a high school and collegiate cheerleader, as well as a long-time cheerleading coach. Jodie coached cheerleaders for 20 years, the latter 15 years were as a head varsity cheerleading coach in the Cumberland County School system; however, she considers herself “retired” from coaching cheerleading, but enjoys the opportunity to continually share her love and passion for the art of tumbling at CDA. During her coaching years, she has led her teams to numerous local championships as well as placing at the national level, choreographing her own routines to include cheers, dance, stunts, and tumbling. Jodie was awarded the very first Cumberland County “Cheerleading Coach of the Year.” Jodie is married to her husband of 17 years, Jeff. She is also the proud mother to a son, Jackson, and a daughter, Jenna Grace.

Christy Jarrell is the office manager at Cumberland Dance Academy. She is also a licensed P&C insurance agent. She is a native of Fayetteville/Hope Mills. She is married and has a daughter and a son. Her daughter danced at CDA once upon a time and received a partial scholarship to Peace College where she was on the dance team and graduated in 2011. Her son is a 2015 graduate of West Point and a 1st Lt. In the US Army.  Christy has been working at Cumberland Dance Academy since 2007.
